Abstract: Through the hot-press-briquetting experiment, the briquetting principle of coal and biomass was carried on discussion. Based on this, a new briquetting hypothesis was established as following: during the briquetting process, on accout of external work, the interfacial energy releasing by surface vanishing and the heat releasing by particles’ pyrolysis, the particles’ temperture leaps and a great deal of tar can be produced in this process. The component with high molecular weight which exists in liquid phase and fusion phase acts as aggolomerant in the briquetting process. The hypothesis was verified combing the T-G experiment results with the energy conservation principle.
